Mobile Area Coalition of Homeschoolers (otherwise known as MACH) is a group of homeschoolers from the Mobile, AL area who participate in a nationwide competition known as BEST Robotics. In BEST Robotics each team is required to build and market a robot, which will compete against thirty-nine other robots to accomplish certain tasks at a large game day competition held at the University of South Alabama's Mitchell Center. In addition to this, each team must build a trade show style display, set up a website, and document the engineering process.
After a team meeting, MACH decided to name our company MACH Energy and Transportation, or M.E.a.T. We also decided to name our robot Big MACH. In the competition, our team will have the opportunity to gain points by assembling two wind turbines and relocating or avoiding prairie chicken decoys. Our robot also must first obtain an oversized/overweight permit and then pass over either a damaged road or a bridge.
